From humble beginnings to Financial Independence - The Nofotane Project

Posted by Julie Ah-Ken on

The SVSG Samoa project for Sustainable Income Generation and Self Employment of Nofotane SVSG, part of the UN Women Fund for Gender Equality (2016 – 2018) it provides livelihood training workshops for over 5,000 unemployed Nofotane women. The Steering committees for this visited the Nofotane shop located within the SVSG Samoa office in Apia, the committee saw some of the products that were created by the women who attended the Nofotane training that started in 2016. Some of these Nofotane women have overcome domestic violence, poverty and discrimination to rise above it and become financially independent for the betterment of their children.

Some of these lovely inspirational women were temporary residents of our Sakura House at the Campus of Hope, some also had their children reside temporarily at our Campus of Hope. Coming under the Nofotane project has given them the motivation to expand their talents under the support of the Nofotane project. Creating Women Empowerment, support and the resources to be successful. Fully funded by the European Union in the Pacific through CSSP.
